Kessler Foundation’s Stroll ‘N Roll Features Special Guests, Innovative Technology and Competition

WEST ORANGE/NEWARK, N.J.—Kessler Foundation celebrates its 10th Annual Stroll ‘N Roll (and Run!) on Sunday, October 16 at Branch Brook Park in Newark, N.J.

Rutgers football player Eric LeGrand, singer Pras Michel from the Fugees, Tony Award Winner John Larroquette, actor Daryl “Chill” Mitchell and state leaders will attend.

Guests will glimpse the future via live demonstrations of eLEGS—a wearable, robotic, battery-powered exoskeleton that enables individuals with paralysis to stand and walk. Amanda Boxtel, an eLEGS ambassador paralyzed since 1992, will demonstrate the device, which is being tested at Kessler Foundation. Made by Berkeley Bionics, eLEGS is now used in rehabilitation; it is targeted for home and community use in 2013.

Kessler Foundation Hosts Senator Menendez’s Panel Discussion on Disability Rights Treaty

WEST ORANGE, N.J.—On October 24, Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ), Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, convened leading disability advocates—including injured former Rutgers football player Eric LeGrand—to discuss strategies to ratify the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). The discussion was hosted at Kessler's West Orange campus.
