Disabilities as Workplace Assets

Response to Peggy Klaus, Feb. 5, 2012 New York Times:

Response by Rodger DeRose, president & CEO, to A Chance to See Disabilities as Assets by Peggy Klaus, Feb. 5, 2012 New York Times:

Letter to the Editor: Since the ADA, there have been gains for people with disabilities. Education is the one area where the gap has narrowed significantly to just 6 percent between people with and without disabilities, according to the Kessler Foundation/National Organization on Disability Survey of Americans with Disabilities. Yet the gap in employment remains persistently high at 38 percent. Clearly, there is a large pool of educated capable individuals with disabilities. This is why Kessler Foundation provides funding for innovative programs that apply creative approaches to expanding employment for people with disabilities. Closing this gap, however, will require the concerted effort of business, government and the disability community.
