Using Brain Electrical Stimulation to Improve Fatigue and Weakness After Breast Cancer

This study examines how brain stimulation can help improve performance in tasks that normally cause fatigue or weakness in women who have had breast cancer. This study is also enrolling healthy female volunteers who have not had breast cancer for the control group.

Phase 1: 3 visits over 2-3 weeks (2 hours each) 

Phase 2: 3 visits over 2-3 weeks:

Visit 1: Consent, screening and MRI (1-2 hours) 

Visits 2 and 3: Testing (3-5 hours each)

Inclusion Criteria

Participants who have had breast cancer: 

  • 40-80 years old 
  • Have had a breast cancer diagnosis and treatment in the past 
  • Have some symptoms/complaints of physical fatigue and weakness 
  • Medically stable for the past 3 months with no expected changes for the duration of the study 
  • Right-handed 

Participants who have NOT had cancer: 

  • 40-80 years old 
  • Right-handed 
  • Fluent in English
