Investigating Mental Fatigue among Individuals with Stroke

The purpose of this study is to investigate mental fatigue after a unilateral stroke. The findings of this study will help us understand how damage to the basal ganglia may lead to different levels of mental fatigue than damage to other parts of the brain.

(time commitment of each session & length of enrollment): 1 session (3 hours)

Inclusion Criteria

For participants with a basal ganglia stroke:

  • Basal ganglia stroke ≥ 6 months ago
  • Right-handed (before stroke)
  • Fluent & literate in English (before stroke)
  • Age 18-85, inclusive

For participants with a stroke outside of the basal ganglia:

  • Stroke elsewhere in brain not affecting basal ganglia ≥ 6 months ago
  • Right-handed (before stroke)
  • Fluent & literate in English (before stroke)
  • Age 18-85, inclusive

For healthy controls:

  • No history of strokes
  • Right-handed
  • Fluent & literate in English
  • Age 18-85, inclusive
Compensation

All participants who complete the study (assessments and MRI) will receive $50.
