Comparing the Effectiveness of Upper Limb Tele-rehab and an Exercise Video Game in People with TBI

This study compares the effectiveness of an exercise video game (Exergame) and a home-based arm and hand exercise (HAHE) program to improve daily functions and quality of life in people with brain injuries who have impairments in the use of their arms and hands.

Participation lasts a total of 10 weeks including: 6-7 visits for baseline and outcome assessments (2 hours each) and 6 weeks of daily tele-rehab sessions (1-hour each).

Inclusion Criteria
  • 18-80 years old
  • At least 12 months post-injury
  • Moderate to severe TBI
  • Moderate hand/arm impairment which affects one upper limb more than the other
  • Have a smartphone, TV with HDMI connection, and reliable internet connection at home

 

Compensation

Participants who complete the study receive up to $140 ($70 for completing first 2 sets of baseline assessments, $70 for completing treatment and all outcome assessments).
