Biomarker for Cognitive Fatigue in MS Using fMRI

Investigates the effectiveness of Tysabri (Natalizumab) on cognitive fatigue in people with relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS). Cognitive fatigue is the kind of fatigue that occurs after intense mental concentration, such as after a session of problem-solving.

Participation lasts approximately 6 months. To determine eligibility, participants complete a screening visit lasting approximately 20 minutes. Once enrolled, participants complete two sessions:

Session 1: fMRI session (75 minutes) followed by paper and pencil tests (3 hours). This session can be split up into two separate visits if needed. 

Session 2: 6 month follow-up fMRI session (75 minutes) followed by paper and pencil tests (3 hours). Participants may be asked to complete questionnaires prior to this visit. 

Inclusion Criteria
  • Individuals diagnosed with RRMS who have been prescribed Tysabri by their medical doctor
  • 18-64 years of age
  • speak and read English fluently

  • healthy volunteers 
  • 18-64 years of age
  • speak and read English fluently.
Compensation

Participants who complete the study receive up to $200.
