Application of the Modified Story Memory Technique (mSMT) to Aging

The Modified Story Memory Technique (mSMT) is a 10 session treatment protocol that teaches patients to utilize context and imagery to facilitate learning previously shown to be effective in individuals with Multiple Sclerosis and Traumatic Brain Injury. 

Total participation lasts 2 years. Participants complete two 1-hour sessions per week for 5 weeks and memory tests and questionnaires 5 times within 2 years. 

Inclusion Criteria
  • 65 years old or older
  • English as primary language
  • No history of significant neurological illness
