Join Kessler Foundation’s Stroll ‘N Roll to Change the Lives of People with Disabilities

WEST ORANGE, N.J.—Join Kessler Foundation for the 14th Annual Stroll ‘N Roll, presented by Biogen and Gibbons on Sunday, September 27, at Verona Park in Verona, N.J. Registration opens at 10 a.m. Every dollar raised advances medical rehabilitation research and funds disability employment initiatives that return people to their homes, their communities and the workplace.

“Stroll ‘N Roll reminds us that abilities matter most and that our community is stronger when people of all abilities come together,” said Rodger DeRose, president and chief executive officer of Kessler Foundation. “We are grateful to everyone who helps raise vital funds that change the lives of people with disabilities. The impact of this generosity is profound. Individuals will get out of their wheelchairs and take their first steps; regain the ability to drive; improve their ability to think, learn and remember; and contribute their skills to the workforce.”

Stroll ‘N Roll will feature family-fun activities for people of all ages—music, carnival games and entertainment, miniature golf, craft making, face painting and food—as well as a stroll or roll around Verona Lake. SYNTAX— an a cappella quartet—will sing “America the Beautiful,” the Bearfoot dancers will perform and Ronald McDonald will greet guests. A DJ group from Pathways for Exceptional Children—a career mentorship program for students with disabilities supported by Kessler Foundation—will keep the energy going with music.

At the event, Kessler Foundation will recognize Daniel Mollino for achieving his lifelong dream to bicycle across the U.S. after sustaining a traumatic brain injury (TBI) from a fall in 2010. The avid cyclist and Ringwood, N.J. resident wasn’t expected to survive but after two weeks in a coma, he began his long road to recovery. Dan relearned to walk, talk, read and, eventually, ride. In June, Dan completed a 3,650-mile bicycle journey, from West Orange to San Diego, to raise awareness about TBI and funds for Kessler Foundation’s TBI research. He rode alone, proving just how far he has come.

Guests of Stroll ‘N Roll can also learn about disability organizations supported by Kessler Foundation and their services for the community. Local politicians may also be in attendance. For more information, online registration, or to donate to Stroll ‘N Roll, visit www.kesslerfoundation.org/snr. Registration is $25 for individuals and $50 for families or teams. Donations can be made in honor of a participant or team. Stroll ‘N Roll begins at 10 a.m. and is expected to end by 1 p.m., rain or shine. Family dogs are welcome. Commemorative t-shirts are included in registration.
