You Can Make a Difference this Brain Injury Awareness Month

In honor of Brain Injury Awareness Month, we share a story to demonstrate how, with the support of friends like you, Kessler Foundation's research makes all the difference for people with traumatic brain injury—people like Pete Welch and his family. We also ask you to make a gift today.

After Hurricane Sandy, Pete and his then-girlfriend, Ali, were assessing damage to their apartment when Pete fell three stories, sustaining a traumatic brain injury. During his rehabilitation, Pete worked hard and participated in several Kessler Foundation studies to improve his memory and his ability to process and learn information. Ali joined Kessler Foundation's unique caregiver study.

Today, Pete works in corporate real estate. He and Ali are happily married and raising their son, Patrick, and their daughter, Katie. Pete says, "It's been 10 years since my TBI. So much has happened since then, but all of my successes are directly thanks to Kessler."

While stories like these are encouraging, more research is needed. By making a gift to Kessler Foundation today, you will advance life-changing rehabilitation research to help Pete and others with disabilities maximize recovery, independence, and inclusion.
