Ms. Tina Chen (pictured at left), a medical student in the UMDNJ-NJMS class of 2013, tied for top-ranked Medical Student Summer Research poster presentation with her summer project, "Assessment of Spatial Neglect and Spatial Biases in Left Brain Stroke Survivors."  Ms. Chen worked with her research mentor, Dr. Barrett (pictured at right) and with James Maniscalco, research assistant in the Stroke Laboratory, to produce the winning poster, for which Ms. Chen will receive a travel prize to present the work at a national meeting. Her work emphasized that all stroke survivors should be assessed for environmental competence and hidden disabilities of functional vision in order to return to active lives.
