Reeve Foundation Visits Kessler Foundation

Wilderotter and Goldberg tour new Neuroimaging Center and Gait Lab

On July 30, Peter Wilderotter, president and CEO, and Maggie Goldberg, senior VP for Marketing and Communications of the Reeve Foundation visited Kessler Foundation.  They toured the Foundation’s new Neuroimaging Center and Gait Lab with Rodger DeRose, president and CEO. “These additions greatly expand our capabilities to perform rehabilitation research in cognition and mobility,” said DeRose. “The Neuroimaging Center’s 3T Siemens Skyra scanner is the most powerful of its kind, enabling our scientists to study the relationships between brain structure and behavior and document the effects of rehabilitative interventions. Having a scanner on site that is dedicated to research is a unique asset that will enable more rapid translation of advances to clinical care.”

The Gait Lab, managed by Gail Forrest, PT, PhD, assistant director of Human Performance & Engineering Research, conducts innovative research using locomotor training, electrical stimulation, and robotics. Kessler Foundation is part of the Reeve Foundation’s NeuroRecovery Network (NRN), which studies the effects of intensive repetitive activity-based therapy for individuals with spinal cord injury.  The new Lab, equipped with the latest Vicon system and overhead tether track, significantly increases the mobility research capabilities of the Foundation.
