Model Selita Ebanks Joining Kessler Foundation’s Stroll ‘N Roll

2012-10-19 16:35:17 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Model Selita Ebanks is joining Kessler Foundation’s 11th Annual Stroll ‘N Roll (and RUN!) on Sunday, October 21st at Brookdale Park in Bloomfield/Montclair, N.J.

Ebanks has modeled for high fashion, including Victoria’s Secret, Neiman Marcus, Ralph Lauren and DKNY. She has appeared in magazines such as Vogue, Glamour, Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, Lucky and Eastwest. Recently, Ebanks was a backstage correspondent for Extra TV during the 2012 New York Fashion Week. She also competed in the 2010 season of Celebrity Apprentice.

“We’re excited to have Selita Ebanks join us for our signature event of the year,” said Rodger DeRose, president and chief executive officer of Kessler Foundation. “Her commitment to helping others is remarkable. Her presence at Stroll ‘N Roll contributes to our efforts to change the lives of people with disabilities.”

In addition to her acting and modeling career, Ebanks founded a mentoring program in the Cayman Islands—where she was born—called the Stardom Youth Foundation. She also founded the Women’s Coalition for Empowerment and Opportunity. She is a supporter of New Yorkers for Children and Shine on Sierra Leone charities and is a mentor for the Seamen’s Society of Staten Island.

At Stroll ‘N Roll (and RUN!), Ebanks will be joined by event ambassadors Eric LeGrand, Miss N.J. Teen U.S. Kendal Barrett and Miss Wheelchair N.J. Kim Biglin. Runners and wheelchair racers may compete in USATF-certified 5K or 10K courses, while others can stroll or roll in the family-fun 5K around Brookdale Park. The Kids Activity Zone will offer carnival games, face painting, balloon animals and Ronald McDonald. Information Alley will feature exhibit booths from local businesses, sponsors, and disability service representatives. Public officials will attend.

All proceeds from Stroll 'N Roll (and RUN!) support Kessler Foundation’s rehabilitation research, disability employment initiatives, and the N.J. chapter of ThinkFirst—a national injury prevention program for kindergarten through high school seniors.
