Kessler Foundation Seeks Grant Proposals for Employment Programs for People with Disabilities in New Jersey

Grants to improve employment and career development for people with disabilities in NJ

Application Deadline - March 1, 2013 at 5 pm EST

Kessler Foundation, which helps people with disabilities lead more productive, independent and fulfilling lives through rehabilitation research and the funding of employment initiatives, has announced the opening of its 2013 Community Employment Grant program cycle.

The program supports nonprofit organizations that provide employment and career advancement opportunities for New Jersey residents with mobility and/or cognitive disabilities, primarily caused by neurological conditions such as spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, stroke, multiple sclerosis, or chronic musculoskeletal disorders. Please note, the Foundation does not fund projects for which the target population served has a primary diagnosis of disability related to autism, developmental/intellectual disabilities, mental illness, post-traumatic stress, learning disabilities, chemical dependence or sensory impairments of vision and/or hearing.

The grant program's areas of interest include transition to work for youth and adults, vocational training and workplace preparation, employment-related transportation issues and strategies to support recruitment, hiring, placement and retention.

Nonprofit organizations serving New Jersey residents that are tax-exempt under the Internal Revenue Code may apply for a grant. This includes nonprofit organizations, public/private schools and public institutions. The foundation will accept applications from groups based outside New Jersey as long as the proposed grant projects are based in New Jersey and serve New Jersey residents.

Applicants may seek funding between $25,000 and $50,000 for a one-year period.
