John DeLuca, PhD, moderates new MS educational program by Projects in Knowledge

Journal Insights is based on Langdon et al’s “Recommendations for a Brief International Cognitive Assessment for Multiple Sclerosis” published in Multiple Sclerosis Journal

West Orange, NJ. March 30, 2012. A new ‘Journal Insights’ continuing education program, moderated by John DeLuca, PhD, has been released by Projects in Knowledge, a New Jersey –based medical education firm.  ‘Journal Insights’ highlight noteworthy articles from the literature that have practical significance for clinicians. Entitled “Recommendations for a Brief International Cognitive Assessment for Multiple Sclerosis (BICAMS),” this program is based on a recently published article in Multiple Sclerosis Journal by Langdon DW, et al. Co-Author Laurie Krupp, MD, shares her perspective as one of the developers of this assessment tool.

Although cognitive impairment affects the majority of people with MS, clinicians lack the means of conducting routine cognitive assessments on these patients. To address this need, a panel of experts developed BICAMS, a short, practical battery of tests that can be easily administered in the clinical setting.   This ‘Journal Insights’ is one of Projects in Knowledge’s Educational Initiatives in Neurology.  Dr. DeLuca, an expert in cognitive function and assessment in MS and brain injury, is VP for Research & Training at Kessler Foundation.
