As today marks International Day of Persons with Disabilities, DeRose cites the importance of the U.S. Senate ratifying the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Civil rights for all people with disabilities; international travel for business, education, and pleasure for Americans with disabilities; and the expansion of American businesses and values were among the reasons given for passing the U.N. Treaty.
