On a beautiful September morning, about 300 strollers and rollers gathered at the starting line of Kessler Foundation's 9th annual Stroll 'N Roll. The North Jersey Navigators, junior athletes with disabilities, led the crowd. After a few opening remarks, they were off to complete a 5k, or three laps, around Verona Park. Families came out to enjoy the music, refreshments, face painting, and balloon artistry. They were joined by actor, producer, and disability advocate Daryl "Chill" Mitchell; Extra correspondent A.J. Calloway; Congressman Bill Pascrell; Governor Richard Codey; Assemblyman Scott Rumana; Assemblywoman Mila Jasey; Miss Teen NJ-World Emily Shah; Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo; West Orange Mayor Robert Parisi; and Verona Mayor Teena Schwarz.

Strollers and rollers also had the opportunity to learn about programs and services available to people with disabilities by visiting the information booths. One lucky 50/50 raffle winner even received over $5,000. More than $50,000 was raised to support research efforts for spinal cord injury; traumatic brain injury, multiple sclerosis, and other neuromuscular conditions; employment initiatives for people with disabilities; and the injury prevention program, ThinkFirst.
