Lauren Strober Headshot
We see health and well-being as a complex interplay of social, mental, physical, and emotional factors. Well-being is more than just the absence of illness or depression; it involves a person’s ability to flourish and thrive despite health challenges.

Areas of Focus

Lauren Strober, PhD, directs the Positive Health and Well-Being Laboratory within Kessler Foundation's Center for Neuropsychology and Neuroscience Research, where she is assistant director of Wellness Research. The Lab aims to identify disease- and person-specific factors that affect health and well-being in individuals with neurological or medical conditions, especially multiple sclerosis. The Lab's main focus is on improving care for people with MS and helping them live their fullest lives.

Dr. Strober and her team conduct psychosocial interventions to address MS symptoms and improve occupational outcomes. Further research aims to identify what it means to “live well” with MS and to examine the roles of self-efficacy, personality, resilience, adaptive coping, engagement in positive health-related behaviors, and social connectedness.

In addition, Lab researchers have developed disease-specific measures and updated normative data for commonly used instruments in MS, such as the Symbol Digit Modalities Test and the Modified Fatigue Impact Scale, to aid researchers and practitioners in accurately and effectively examining MS-related factors and their effects.
