Center for Traumatic Brain Injury Research (CTBIR)

The position's primary focus will be on recruitment of participants for MS and TBI exercise and cognition studies, tracking participants throughout their enrollment, completing neuropsychological testing, and completing paperwork for the Institutional Review Board.

 

Responsibilities include
  • Facilitating participant recruitment, enrollment, and outreach/engagement; meeting with local neurologists/neurology clinic personnel and leaders of local non-profit organizations and support groups.
  • Managing advertising strategies; developing promotional materials for the project for broad dissemination.
  • Coordinating the scheduling of participant visits among all team members.
  • Organizing study materials.
  • Preparing reports on recruitment and enrollment status for internal meetings, progress reports, and external publications.
  • Overseeing consenting activities conducted by a research assistant.
  • Assisting with training of other research personnel.
  • Managing medical record abstraction and data collection.
  • Working closely with the project’s Principal Investigator to maintain effective communication between all personnel involved in the project (i.e., research staff, funding agencies).
  • Ensuring data quality control.
  • Assisting in coordinating activities related to IRB applications, submissions, audits, and renewals.
  • Maintaining/monitoring data in recruitment databases (SIMS and REDCap).
  • Ensuring that the study team maintains IRB and HIPAA compliance.
Qualifications
  • At least three years of related research experience in a clinical/research setting, including with participant recruitment, including advertising/marketing.
  • Experience working closely with a Principal Investigator and with people with disabilities and/or other chronically ill populations and/or their families.
  • Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree(s) in the social sciences, health sciences, or communications (e.g., Psychology, Public Health, Social Determinants of Health, Marketing, Advertising).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional time-management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects studies simultaneously and prioritize effectively.
  • Well-developed understanding of randomized clinical trials.
  • Strong ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience in data management from various sources (e.g., medical records, surveys).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Access to own transportation and ability to travel between East Hanover, NJ, and other locations in northern NJ, as needed.
Preferred qualifications
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
  • Previous experience with recruitment of persons with neurological disorders for research studies, particularly individuals with MS.
  • Experience in quantitative data-collection techniques
  • Experience with REDCap.
