Fan Zhang, PhD, is a research scientist in the Tim and Caroline Reynolds Center for Spinal Stimulation at Kessler Foundation, and a research assistant professor at the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Rutgers, New Jersey Medical School. He received his Doctorate degree in Biomedical Engineering at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and North Carolina State University.
Dr. Zhang has authored over 30 high-impact journal articles and conference papers in biomedical and rehabilitation engineering. His long-term goal is to translate these innovative rehabilitation technologies into clinical practice to improve the quality of life for people with physical disabilities.

Research Interests
Dr. Zhang's primary research focuses on human motor control, the development of advanced rehabilitation and assistive technologies, and their application in enhancing mobility and function for people with neuromuscular and musculoskeletal disorders or injuries. One of his ongoing projects investigates the effectiveness and feasibility of spinal cord transcutaneous stimulation to neuromodulate spinal networks and improve motor and sensory function in people with spinal cord injuries.
