In a Vital Signs interview on NowMedia Television Networks, Kessler Foundation researchers Nancy Chiaravalloti, PhD, and Brian Sandroff, PhD, discussed how exercise may support brain health, memory, learning, and cognitive function in people with neurological conditions.

Dr. Chiaravalloti is director of the Center for Neuropsychology and Neuroscience Research and an expert in cognitive rehabilitation. Assistant Director Dr. Sandroff studies the effects of exercise on cognition, mobility, and brain health in neurological conditions.

In the program “Movement as Medicine for the Brain: Exercise, Memory, and Neuroplasticity,” Drs. Chiaravalloti and Sandroff highlighted growing evidence that physical activity can promote neuroplasticity. This process is the brain’s ability to adapt and change throughout life, and it may strengthen cognitive resilience. Viewers will gain a better understanding of why exercise is increasingly recognized as an important component of rehabilitation and long-term brain health.
