The purpose of this research study is to develop an assistive program that helps people with brain injuries walk safely.
Participants walk through various walking paths with and without a mixed reality device worn on their head. The device alerts the wearer if they are walking too closely to an obstacle.

1-2 visits lasting up to 2.5 hours (some participants may finish sooner).
Inclusion Criteria
Individuals with brain injuries (Traumatic Brain Injury, Acquired Brain Injury, or Stroke):
- Individuals aged 21-80 who have been diagnosed with a brain injury that occurred more than 6 months ago
- Able to stand for up to 30 minutes
- Able to walk independently without an assistive device such as a cane, brace, or walker
- Normal or corrected to normal visual acuity
Healthy Controls:
- Individuals aged 21-80 who have not been diagnosed with a brain injury or neurological disorder
- Able to stand for up to 30 minutes
- Able to walk independently without an assistive device such as a cane, brace, or walker
- Normal or corrected to normal visual acuity
Compensation
Participants who complete the study receive $50.00 and up to $50.00 in travel reimbursement.
