|This proposed study will provide data needed to design, fund, and conduct large-scale, multi-center studies that are needed to establish neuropathic pain phenotypes or the common ways that people with SCI experience pain after injury.|
The study will take approximately 12 months to complete. It involves 3 visits, which will occur at one, six, and twelve months after your spinal cord injury. Each visit will take approximately 1.5-2 hours.
- Individuals diagnosed with traumatic SCI.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Admitted to Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation (KIR) for inpatient rehabilitation.
- Able to travel to KIR for follow-up visits during the first year after injury.
Participants receive up to $600 for taking part in this study according to the following schedule: $100 for the 1 and 6 month follow-ups, $150 for the 12-month follow-up and an additional $100 for completing all visits. Participants are also reimbursed up to $150 for any travel costs.
