Mid/Senior Level Engineer - Center for Spinal Stimulation

Location: West Orange, NJ  

Kessler Foundation is seeking a mid/senior-level engineer to participate in the design and management of research equipment as well as analysis and interpretation of human movement data. This individual will work in the Center for Spinal Stimulation in West Orange, NJ as part of a scientific research team in translational research.

Responsibilities may include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Perform data collection for clinical research studies related to gait.
  • Develop scripts (MATLAB and Python) to analyze and interpret the kinematics, kinetics, and physiological data.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, computer software, and lab supplies.
  • Provide assistance to the scientists in preparing scientific manuscripts and grant proposals.
  • Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Organize and update testing and training manuals and documents.
  • Provide assistance to other engineers and research staff.
  • Mentoring junior engineers and interns.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in biomedical engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant experience in gait analysis (experience in biomechanics is strongly preferred).
  • Experience with motion-capture data-collection routines (calibration, data processing, etc.).
  • Strong programming skills in MATLAB and Python.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills, including statistical analysis and data management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with electromyography (EMG) procedures and analysis.
  • Experience in assisting with scientific manuscripts preparation.
  • Programming skills in C/C++ and LabVIEW.
  • Familiarity with basic electronic circuit design and electromechanical development.
  • Practical knowledge of project management.
