Kessler Foundation announced the launch of Hurricane Sandy Emergency Grants in Fall 2012. This emergency grant fund was designed to help non-profit organizations meet the immediate needs of people with disabilities in New Jersey affected by the hurricane. Mini-grants in amounts of $2,500 to $10,000 were available.
In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, many New Jerseyans with disabilities are experiencing challenges related to recovery. There is an urgent need to address the basic needs of individuals affected by the storm, such as accessibility, transitional housing and home modification, medical equipment and supplies and to offer assistance to disability organizations seeking to restore operations.
To date, Kessler Foundation has distributed more than $160,000 to support the relief efforts for people with disabilities. Click to view the Foundation's Hurricane Sandy grant recipients.
